Drinking water at home is a basic need for everyone. Some people buy bottled water, some use delivery, but the most convenient way to get it is a drinking water filter.

If you have a filter, you will not face a situation when you run out of water and need to urgently go to the store, arrange delivery or drink tap water.

Filters for drinking water include:

Flow filters

Classic

Quick release

Single stage

Tabletop

Reverse Osmosis Systems

All filters require preliminary water preparation. For central water supply systems, such preparation is carried out at the water utility, and in private homes, after receiving water from a well or borehole, it must be purified to the state of "technical water" in special filter systems.

If the water has not been pre-treated, the filter's lifespan will be much lower and you will have to change the cleaning cartridges more often, as they will become more contaminated.

To choose the right filter cartridges, you need to understand what impurities to clean the water from. To do this, you need to analyze it. This can be done by submitting samples to a laboratory or using an express test.

The exception is reverse osmosis systems. They do not require water analysis.

Flow filters

This is a compact system that can purify water in houses and apartments to a drinking state.

There are different models, depending on the number of cleaning stages, ease of maintenance and appearance.

The latter is not the main thing, because such filters especially in case of concealed flushes bathroom are most often installed under the kitchen sink and the tap with purified water is brought out next to the mixer, and in some cases they are even connected to the mixer itself, if its design allows this.

Flow filters can be:

Classic (SL10 format)

Quick release

Single stage

Tabletop

Classic

The classic model of a flow-through filter is a kit that is installed under the sink.

It includes:

Collector to which SL10 format flasks are screwed

Cartridges of the corresponding format

Tap for supplying clean water

Tubes for connecting the system to the water supply

A pass-through valve for connecting the tap to an existing water supply system

Key for tightening and loosening flasks.

The replacement of modules in such a filter is carried out by unscrewing the flasks, using the key that comes in the kit. Regardless of the manufacturer of such a cleaning system, the SL10 format is international and means that when replacing cartridges, any SL10 cartridge will fit into an SL10 format flask.

Quick release

The principle of water filtration in quick-release models is no different from classic filters. The main difference is the method of replacing cartridges.

Quick-release models do not use flasks or replaceable cartridges. After exhausting their resource, each module is replaced entirely.

And thanks to their convenient design, they can be removed without using a key. Some models are simply unscrewed and screwed in using a quick-release mechanism.

Other models are equipped with a release button that can be pressed to release the module.

They also produce models with a rotary mechanism that allows you to change the angle of the flask for easy filter maintenance.

To service all quick-release filters, simply shut off the water supply to the filter and replace the old blocks with new ones. Compared to classic filters, servicing quick-release models is simpler, takes less time, and does not leave water stains.
